Elizabeth Armstrong Original Lithograph “Samurai Charge” 4/25

Lithography is a method for printing using a stone (lithographic limestone) or, more often, a metal plate. A printed image is produced by etching the image onto a flat plate, then copying the etched design by applying ink to it and pressing onto paper or parchment. Different layers of colour, hue or texture are then built up by repeating the process. Unlike a print, a lithograph relies upon the artist’s personal skill, and is a time consuming and technical process.

Even with a high quality printing method like lithography, an artist will end up with variations of the prints called "editions." These are individually numbered in relation to the total number of editions for one printing session. For example, 1/25.

"I do hope that my work will make a lasting impression on those who view it, and that it will stimulate the hearts of horse lovers and art collectors everywhere". Elizabeth Armstrong
