During the World Series of Polo at Hurlingham Park this July, Nacho Figueras, known as “the Face of Ralph Lauren”, was spotted wearing a Polistas polo shirt while playing for Team New York. Nacho and his team made it all the way to the final before being narrowly edged out in a dramatic 9-8 loss to home team London (Jack Kidd, Henry Brett, Jamie Morrison and Nina Clarken).
It was a fortunate coincidence for Polistas, the supplier of all the team kit for the tournament, that they got Ralph Lauren’s most famous male model to pose for the cameras for free in his team polo shirt sporting the Polistas 3 polo player logo.
Ironically, in the photo above, Amy Guy, the female face of Polistas, is interviewing Roddy Williams, the male face of Polistas on her left and Nacho, the face of Ralph Lauren, on her right for ITV Sports. Nacho reportedly approved of the Polistas choice of female model with a cheeky Latin American compliment about Amy’s figure. And isn’t it strange that there is such a close resemblance between Roddy and Nacho in both their looks and level of play.
So, if Team New York wins the World Series next year, who’s flagship store will get the privilege of displaying the trophy – Polistas or Ralph Lauren? Given that Polistas has three polo players to Ralph Lauren’s one, both on their logos and on the field, it looks like Polistas will win that one.
Replicas of the Team New York shirt Roddy and Nacho were wearing are available for purchase in Polistas stores and on the website
